Lorena's stay in Bordeaux

Last month, our postdoctoral researcher, Lorena Pérez Yarza, travelled to Bordeaux to work at the Université Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux III to do research on the chronological-paleographic peculiarities of Bordeaux epigraphy. This academic stay allowed her to design a proposal of a chronology-based palaeographical model, which was developed in collaboration with the researchers of the centre Ausonius. The model illustrates the evolution of the Latin capital in its passage into Late Antiquity. Dr. Pérez Yarza identified a number of workshops from third century and the paleographic traits of early-late antique inscriptions. In addition, our colleague was invited to collaborate with their digital database PETRAE (https://petrae.huma-num.fr/fr/) and to return to study materials from other locations in Aquitaine. The results of Lorena's work with on the third-century epigraphic workshops of Roman Bordeaux will be presented at the International Medieval Congress (Leeds, July 2024).
