During the 17th Congress of the Fédération internationale des associations d’études classiques, Paweł Nowakowski gave a paper "Early Christian Universalism in Marginal Decorations of Inscriptions From the Eastern Mediterranean" as part of the sessions "Texts and the Formation of Religious Networks in the Roman Empire" organized by Sofia Bianchi Mancini and Jörg Rüpke (both from the University of Erfurt).
The sessions also accommodated papers by Lucy Grig, Friedrich Enno, Dorothee Elm von der Osten, and the two organizers. In his paper, Pawel explored common motifs, especially the shape of crosses, used by carvers of inscriptions across the provinces of the Eastern part of the Roman Empire.
