On 18 and 19 June, Paweł Nowakowski participated in a palaeographical workshop in Oxford, organized by Jon Prag and Simona Stoyanova (ERC Crossreads project), to discuss the theoretical and practical frameworks for the study of the palaeography of ancient Mediterranean inscriptions.
Since this is also a theme central to our methodology, the meeting created an opportunity to consult our work with leading researchers in this field. Pawel presented the whole team’s effort of the entire last year in creating vocabularies, seriation tables and palaeographical plates for the study of Greek inscriptions (you can get a glimpse of them on our website, in the methodology tab). One of the most important results of the meeting was that a group was created to pursue palaeographical studies in epigraphy, in a more systematic way, and will hold its meetings soon!
