This week we held our third ERC Digital Epigraphy Workshop (Spring Series) with Dr Beatrice Luci (Università degli Studi “La Sapienza” di Roma, Italy) on “Microphotogrammetry using portable digital microscopes: An innovative method for on-site documentation of technological traces” in cooperation with the MA programme “History of Ancient Mediterranean Civilizations”.
Beatrice discussed and presented in practice the methods of microphotogrammetry of inscriptions as an emerging discipline of epigraphic research - the ways in which it differs from traditional photogrammetry and its research potential.
Beatrice is a researcher at Sapienza University of Rome, and you may know her from her paper “Micro-photogrammetry and traceology: new on-site documentation approaches using portable digital microscopes” which she co-authored with Giulia Previti and Cristina Lemorini in the Journal of Archaeological Science 168 (2024). https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jas.2024.106004
